Subject: The F&B 69mm Billet Throttle Body 4.7L, a month la
IP: Logged

Message:
I've been testing Bruce's all Billet 69mm TB on my 4.7L for about 4 weeks
now and I'd like to report my findings so far. I have still yet to run the
dyno again, however I'm still trying to contact the local "dyno guy" , I
hope he hasn't gone out of business???
I have made 3 passes at the strip with it, but the conditions were less
than ideal, and all I could muster was some lousy 14.4's, but the MPH was up
by almost 1.5 mph.

The overall feel of the TB is unbelievable !!!!, especially if your going
from a stock 65mm tb, right to this unit. I had been running a modified
68mm TB prior to bolting on Bruce's, and while the 68mm tb was stronger
than the 65mm tb, and out flowed the stock 65mm tb by 20%, there is no
comparison to Bruce's 69mm unit. It responds on the low end very well, and
the top end is flat out AWESOME, VERY strong. It keeps pulling well past
5000, doesn't fall off until atleast 5500 rpms.
I'm not into "butt" dyno's, so I can't put a hp number on it, but I can
say, without a doubt, its the best mod I have done to date.
Better than the air-intake, HP PCM, modded 68mm tb, Flowmaster cat back, or
the AIT relocation.

The TB looks awesome, and is very intimidating. Its huge, the entry
diameter has to be close to 80mm. If you set the TB face up it looks like a
Velocity stack !! I have noticed no decrease in mileage as a result of the
TB.

I nice piece of engineering work, that I'd highly recommend. I'll have it
on the dyno in July, at the Chrysler National @ Carlisle PA.

Thanks Bruce ! you da Man !

Matt.. what else you you have on your truck...heck 14.23 is awsome.. espically if you dont have tons of mods..but you may...
So what do you estimate the difference that the TB made... in 1/4, and 0-60 times? make sute to post when you get it on the dyno.

Jonas, My mods are: Homemade air-intake(K&N cone filter), Flowmaster cat back, Mobil 1, Mike Leach custom PCM, 180 tstat, Bosch +4 plugs, traction bars, Hoosier 28 x 11.5 DOT slicks on 15x8 dakota rims. I only ran stock a few times, and my best time was 14.8's with street tires, STOCK)
1st I added traction bars & Homemade air intake and slicks ran 14.5's ( 208 rwhp, 285 rwtq)
2nd I added the flowmaster cat back, ran 14.48 (209 rwhp, 285 rwtq)
3rd I added the Mike Leach PCM, Bosch +4's, & 180 tstat and ran 14.2's. (217 rwhp, 292 rwtq)

Since then, I have added the CalTrac traction bars, and the 69mm Billet TB, BUT, I have'nt been able to run the 1/4 yet, or the dyno. I'm expecting around 225 rwhp, 300 rwtq, and around a 14.0 +-. Not bad for a 3700 lb truck (3900 w/ me) and for a price of 15,800 , plus mods !
AND, the 5 spd is one helluva thrill to drive!!

It's not available yet, should be a few more weeks before they become available. I tested a Prototype for F&B back in April. Bruce is currently working on the production TB.

I got the stage 1. I helped out a little. Seems to accelerate better and get through the rpms a lot quicker. But I don't think it is worth the money. I paid $190 for it and I am going to take it off when I get the PCM flashed. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't buy it.

I have a Jet Stage 2 and I can feel the difference. I like the Jet chip but sometimes I have idling problems.

I also ordered a Flowmetrics 70" throttle body and they sent me a 72". I was really looking forward to it so I installed it anyway. It is great if you want a top-end drag truck. But my truck is mostly around town performance. If anyone is looking to upgrade from a F&B 70" to a 72"..let me know I will be happy to trade.

I met a guy today that said he wanted to run my truck. He has a 2000 Quad Cab with the 4.7 with an intake. He also claims he has 3.93 gears and a posi. The posi I can don't doubt a bit, but 3.93's? Is that a stock option for that truck? He said the only thing he has done was the K&N FIPK. I saw from another post that a guy ran 14's with only an intake, but he ran slicks as well, and had a 3.55. Basically i don't want to get walked on here, can I get some help?

The gear size is actually 3.92. I have one in my 2001 4.7L Dodge Dakota Quad cab. It was an option and the 3.55 gear was standard. Does this person have a 4x4 or a 4x2, and also does he have a manual or an automatic. My automatic quad cab 4x4 ran a 15.5 with a G-tec Pro. I have modified the intake and the exhaust. I imagine a 4x2 with a manual would easily run in the 14's. The 4.7L has really impressed me. I have never lost to any full size 4x4 truck.
