Does any one know if the new Dakota's a available with a antislip differential? My older Dakota is limited slip and it can't even go though snow :(

So I looking for a truck than can handle the snow in my yard without getting truck!

Snow traction, with or without a limited-slip differential, is more a function of tire tread pattern.
If you want snow traction, get the right tires first.

Its got good ties. Just that when you start to slip, one wheel up front spins.

He said the right tires, not good tires. With the right tires, a Dakota will even push snow well - even without limited slip.

i live in chicago area and we get plenty of snow. first off mud terrains are good in powder but if its packed snow or ice...they suck. the huge lugs are like pads and just slide around you want a tread pattern that is more broken up with sipes, im runnin 31 by 1050 all terrains and in 4 wheel drive i have no problems but fact of the matter is no matter what tires you got if your in 2 wheel drive these trucks are so light your screwed. Sand bags + 4 wheel drive + bfg all terrains = No problem

Well rather you have good tires or the right tires.

You still can't move though the snow if it's a foot deep. And don't be like Kowalski and use your midsize truck as a Snowplow. Now that's just plum stupid!

Bull. One foot of snow is child's play for my truck. I've plowed 2' snow with it. For that you have to know what you are doing, and work at it a bit. One of the nice points about plowing with a Dakota is the turning radius of a shorter truck for clearing tight spots.

Here are the tires I use here in the Pacific Northwest, Joe.

http://www.procomptires.com/truck-jeep-tires/radial-all-terrain.aspx

These have impressive snow traction, and are "Severe Weather" rated. Kinda spendy, but I haven't needed chains since I bought them.

I wouldn't expact DD to agree. His main purpose here seems to be taking cheap shots at those he doesn't like; rather than posting helpful info. Those familiar with the site wouldn't expect anything else from him.
I run all terrains too, but 9.50x30 for plowing. Narrower tires work better for slick conditions, as you have more weight per square inch of contact patch. Gives it better bite. Everyone likes wider tires because they look cool, but they tend to float in the slick stuff.

The reason why DD wouldn't agree with you is because you’re an idiot for using your truck as a snow pusher. Was a midsize truck really designed to push snow regardless of axel gears or engine you’re using??

And on top of that you only got a limited slip differential, and thats not ideal for pushing snow.

mario, I think Kowalski got it right, first I think you need to KNOW what you are doing, and about the tires, I always knew that skinny tires would get better traction, I didn't know because of having more weight per inch of tire patch. It does make since though.

With practice I'm sure you (mario) will make a fine snow mover.
Good Luck

mario - you might want to review the thread before you accuse me like that (..."kowalski as i said im getting a blade and u wanna talk about our trucks not being made for snow"...).

I say the Dakota can work very well for snow.
From your above post, it also sounds like you may not be aware that smaller and lighter plows, like those for the jeep, are available for the Dakota as well. I'll be happy to help clear up anyone's confusion with anything about plowing with a Dakota, just ask...

no no no no, on the computer you cant hear voice expression and what not. i meant that "u" was STS. i agree with YOU/Kowalski that our trucks are great for it. i was making a point that a dakota with a plow is better than blowin and shovelin snow. did that clear things up?? Sorry 4 the misunderstanding
